Fancy Farm picnic set with barbecue, music and politics

The 146th annual St. Jerome Fancy Farm Picnic is set for a tasty preview on Friday night, and a full day of family activities on Saturday.

Friday kicks off with the Knights of Columbus fish fry from 4:30 to 6:30. Music from the Bourbon Breakers goes on from 6 til 10, while the one mile fun run goes off at 6, and the 5K run at 7. Bingo also starts at 7.

Saturday starts early with barbecue pork and mutton on sale by the pound beginning at 8.

At 10, barbecue sandwiches go on sale along with hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and ice cream. Or you can enjoy the home-cooked meal at the parish hall. All-day bingo starts at 10.

Fancy Farm's famous political stump speeches happen at 2 p.m.

After that, the food and fun continues, along with music from Seeing Red from 7 til 10.
