A former McCracken County School Resource Officer has been charged with misdemeanor misconduct involving a student.
Kentucky State Police detectives said they were contacted on May 11th by the administration at McCracken County High School after getting reports of inappropriate communications. The student told administrators that an SRO, 58-year-old Darrin Frommeyer of Paducah, had gained access to her phone twice and taken selfies without her permission. Frommeyer also allegedly contacted the student through her TikTok and Instagram accounts. These contacts reportedly took place after the traceable communication law went into effect in Kentucky.
Because of the implementation of the law and his position in the school system, Frommeyer has been charged with three counts of official misconduct and two counts of unlawful access to a computer. He has also resigned from McCracken County Schools.
The case is still under investigation.
