The sheriff's report says that crime increased by 14 percent in Graves County last year.
At the same time, it says felony thefts last year were up by 19 percent and drug offenses were up 38 percent. Felony thefts increased from 97 in 2020 to 116 in 2021, while drug offenses increased from 236 in 2020 to 328 in 2021.
DUI arrests increased by 26 percent, from 67 in 2020 to 85 in 2021.
The Sheriff's Office says their data on automotive accidents shows an overall decrease of 6 percent in the total number of collisions last year. Accidents fell from 392 in 2020 to 366 in 2021, with fatalities decreasing from 4 in 2020 to 3 in 2021.
The number of injury collisions slightly increased from 81 in 2020 to 82 in 2021, while non-injury crashes decreased from 311 in 2020 to 284 in 2021.
They said alcohol was involved in 12 of the 366 collisions reported.
Other statistics released by the Graves County Sheriff's Office:
- Rapes increased 40 percent from 5 in 2020 to 7 in 2021.
- Robberies decreased 100 percent from 1 in 2020 to 0 in 2021.
- Felony Assaults remained the same, at 12 for the past two years.
- Residential and Commercial Burglary decreased 22 percent from 88 in 2020 to 68 in 2021.
- Auto Thefts increased 9 percent from 21 in 2020 to 23 in 2021.
- Arsons decreased 100 percent from two reported in 2020 to 0 in 2021.
- Simple Assaults decreased 3 percent from 88 reported cases in 2020 to 85 in 2021.
- Receiving Stolen Property increased 50 percent from 8 in 2020 to 12 in 2021.
- Criminal Mischief increased 23 percent from 68 cases in 2020 to 84 cases in 2021.
- Weapons Violations remained the same for both years at 9
- Sex Offenses (other than rape) decreased 11 percent from 18 in 2020 to 16 in 2021.
- Disorderly Conduct decreased 16 percent from 24 in 2020 to 20 in 2021.
