A Graves County man reportedly attacked deputies and damaged a patrol car early Monday morning.

Graves County Sheriff's deputies found 37-year-old Joseph L. Brown screaming for help in the middle of US 45 near Pryorsburg. Deputies surmised Brown to be under the influence of some type of drug.

According to reports, Brown spat at one deputy and kicked another in the chest. Once taking him in custody and placing him in a patrol car, Brown reportedly caused $1400 dollar's worth of damage to the rear passenger compartment of the patrol car.

Brown was charged with assault, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief.

Detectives searched Brown's residence on Old Macedonia Church Street. Drug evidence recovered included crystal meth, several electronic scales with drug residue, plastic baggies containing drug residues, marijuana, suboxone strips, and drug smoking devices. Brown was additionally charged with possession of meth and with marijuana trafficking.

A loaded .380 semi-automatic pistol was also seized. Brown is a convicted felon and not legally allowed to possess firearms.

Detectives also located a baby owl inside of a cage with no food or water. Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife responded and took possession. Charges are pending from KDFW.

Brown was transported to an out-of-county detention center.
