A former Caldwell County deputy jailer appeared in Caldwell District Court on Monday for arraignment on theft charges.

WKDZ reports that 33-year-old Dustin Driver of Princeton is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000. He appeared for arraignment via Zoom from the Fulton County Jail following his arrest last Thursday by Kentucky State Police.

A preliminary hearing in District Court was set for Monday morning.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 investigated a complaint about missing money from the Caldwell County Jail. They determined that Driver was responsible for withdrawing cash from the jail’s kiosk and depositing it at the bank.

Their arrest citation states that during a period from July 2024 through June 2 of this year, 51 deposits were missing totaling about $14,112.

KSP said Driver confessed to the thefts to state police. Police said that Driver had also confessed to the thefts to the Caldwell County jailer on June 5.
