Hotel project for downtown Paducah still on hold

The boutique hotel project, which was a centerpiece of the downtown City Block project, remains on hold.

The update on the project came during Tuesday's meeting of the Paducah Board of Commissioners. Mayor George Bray said that while the parking lot portion has been completed, Wayland Ventures is still seeking a new financial partner for the hotel. 

In October, Wayland Ventures told commissioners that the hotel would have to be delayed because of "construction market conditions" including unforeseen issues with the foundation design for the hotel, significant increases in interest rates, rising construction costs, and difficulties in securing subcontractors.

Bray said he remains in contact with Wayland officials but does not expect any news from them until after the holidays.
