House fire Monday leaves resident and dog dead

A fire early Monday morning fire left a Jaobs Lane resident and its dog dead.  

The Concord Fire Department reported Thursday they along with West McCracken and Kevil firefighters were called to the home just before 6 am Monday.  

Concord units arrived on scene to a single story single family home with smoke showing. Mercy Regional EMS was on scene prior to fire units arriving and advised they attempted to make contact with any occupants at both entrance doors with no answer.

The Mercy Regional Captain on scene advised he was familiar with the home and believed it to be occupied. At that time, a Paducah Fire Department crew was sent to the scene for additional manpower.

Concord firemen made entry into the back door of the home and located a victim within the residence and rapidly removed them to an awaiting stretcher outside where it was ultimately determined the victim was   deceased.

Paducah firemen made entry into the residence and extinguished the fire, conducted a further search for occupants and removed a pet that had perished as well.

The victim has not been identified nor has the cause of the fire been determined.
