The KY 402 Clarks River Bridge in Marshall County will be closed to traffic today as a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet prepares for construction of a new bridge.

The Aurora Highway bridge replacement project was postponed until the completion of the Eggners Ferry Road bridges along the Clarks River Wildlife Refuge.

Eggners Ferry Road is set to reopen by late Tuesday, which will allow the contractor to move equipment to the KY 402 project site.

The new structure is a $7.7 million investment. In addition to building new approach sections, the project includes repairs and restoration of the existing 1933 truss bridge to preserve its historic character.

The bridge completion date is around July 2026.
