16-year-old in custody in connection to a weekend shooting

A 16-year-old juvenile is in custody after being connected to a weekend shooting that sent an 18-year-old to an out-of-state hospital. 

The arrest came out of the continued investigation into the shooting. Detectives were able to identify a 16-year-old suspect who was reportedly acquainted with the victim. The two allegedly had been involved in previous altercations.

Detectives reportedly identified the suspect in a vehicle and pulled it over. In the course of that encounter, police located a 9mm handgun and an extended magazine in the car. The male juvenile was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail. He is charged with 1st-degree assault in connection with the shooting.

Paducah Police continued their investigation into the shooting that took place overnight Saturday. In that case, an 18-year-old reportedly received multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle from the scene on Madison Street. 

The juvenile victim was later transferred to an out-of-state hospital for further treatment.
