A western Kentucky State Representative has been tapped for a leadership position on a southern energy policy board.
State Representative Jim Gooch, a Republican from Providence, has been appointed the Treasurer of the Southern States Energy Board Executive Committee. He has represented Kentucky on the board since 2013, first as an alternate member, then as the House member in 2017, with a reappointment in 2019. Gooch represents the 12th House District, which includes Webster, Crittenden, McLean, and Union Counties.
Gooch said, “We are truly at a crossroads with energy in America today and the Southern States Energy Board plays a major role in determining our future. This appointment is both an honor and a responsibility that I will continue to approach with great care and commitment. Serving in a leadership role on the board allows Kentucky to have a strong voice in shaping regional energy policy and ensuring our priorities are represented at the table.”
The Southern States Energy Board is a multi-state group with a purpose of seeing states work together on energy technologies, programs, and policy in the southern part of the U.S. Legislators and Governors from 16 states and two territories make up all but one spot on the board, which goes to a Presidential appointee.
