Mass casualty incident declared for Western Kentucky Parkway crash

A multi-vehicle crash on the Western Kentucky Parkway near Central City Sunday resulted in a mass casualty incident being declared.

According to the Central City Fire Department, crews responded to the 62 mile marker westbound.

At the scene, emergency personnel found 14 injured patients, 12 of which were juveniles.

Because of the overwhelming number of patients, several emergency crews from neighboring Ohio County also responded to the scene.

Both westbound and eastbound lanes of the Parkway were shut down during the time of patient triage, and while the accident was cleared.

The patients were all taken to Owensboro Health Muhlenburg County Hospital in Greenville for treatment.
