A court appearance for a McCracken County man facing numerous counts of animal cruelty was continued until later this month.

The McCracken District Court Clerk said 62-year-old David Howery's first appearance was continued to May 18.

He was arrested on April 28 after McCracken County deputies received a tip alleging that Howery was hoarding many animals and neglecting them. Additionally, authorities learned he had an outstanding bench warrant out of Adair County from a previous animal cruelty conviction.

While serving Howery with the Adair County warrant at his home, detectives reportedly found approximately 100 animals on the property living in poor conditions.

Howery faces 25 counts of second-degree cruelty to animals.
