The Kentucky State Police have released more details on the officer-involved shooting at the Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds.
State police said officers Michael Martin and David Ingle with the Frankfort Police Department were in the area of the fairgrounds on January 5, assisting local agencies in the aftermath of the December storm.
Fifty-three-year-old Tony Edwards of Mayfield reportedly approached the officers and began shooting in their direction.
The officers returned fire and struck Edwards. He was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was performed on January 6 at the Western Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office which revealed that his cause of death was from a gunshot wound.
