A nighttime, work zone lane restriction on Interstate 24 in McCracken County has resumed.
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will be working overnight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., leveling and micro-paving the roadway in approximately 8-mile sections per night if weather allows.
Crews will work westbound from Exit 16 to near the I-24 Ohio River Bridge, alternating between the left and right lanes, before moving eastbound.
A reduced speed limit of 55 mph is in effect in the work zone.
This phase of the project is expected to continue until mid- to late July and will include some weekend nights as needed. The work zone will be lifted from June 28 to July 6 for the July 4th holiday.
Intermittently, and also during nighttime hours, ramps along I-24 will be closed for paving. These closures will generally last about one hour. Personnel will be stationed on the ramp scheduled for paving to alert motorists to the temporary closure.
The entire project is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2025.
