Members of an online extremist group have been identified as suspects in the bomb threat that forced an evacuation at Marion High School.

Police in Marion, Illinois, said on Tuesday that the Washington County, Maryland, Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police have been assisting with the continuing investigation into the threat from August 14th.  An 18-year-old from Maryland and a 13-year-old from New York have been identified as the suspects. The two are reportedly part of a group called 764’s.

Authorities said that the 764 group is a loose network of extremists known for coercing, exploiting, and abusing minors. They are said to operate primarily online and without the structure of a traditional group.

Federal authorities, along with New York police, are leading the investigation.
