Paducah Police arrested a Georgia man Tuesday morning along I-24 after he was found allegedly trafficking illegal drugs through the area.

Around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, police spotted a car speeding along 1-24 through the lowered-speed zone near the 2-mile marker on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River. The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Marques Reed of Georgia, finally stopped near exit 4 at Hinkleville Road. The officer reportedly could detect the smell of marijuana coming from the car. Reed is said to have admitted to having two joints in his possession.

A search of Reed's vehicle, though, reportedly uncovered a duffel with about three pounds of marijuana, some cocaine, six more joints, a THC vape, two cell phones, and a loaded semi-automatic pistol. Reed allegedly denied the items were his.

Reed was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine and marijuana, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and speeding. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
