Typical summer-time heat and humidity will continue through the work week. Daily highs will primarily be in the upper 80s to lower 90s through Thursday. Heat index readings may reach 100 in some places today, but should hold in the 90s Wednesday and Thursday.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the Quad State through Wednesday night. Then chances will be focused over the southern half of the region Thursday.
Lightning and brief torrential rains will accompany the storms this week.
It will be dry across the Quad State Friday through Monday, and a warming trend is expected. High temperatures will climb into the middle 90s over the weekend and Monday, while heat index readings climb into the triple digits each afternoon. Most locations should remain under 105.
