A single vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer closed Interstate 24 to traffic at times on Tuesday in McCracken County.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to the 2-mile marker of westbound Interstate 24 regarding the collision.

They said 45-year-old Julio Ruiz-Estrada of Live Oak, Florida was driving a tractor-trailer westbound and began to brake and lost control due to the wet conditions. The tractor and trailer left the roadway onto the north shoulder of the interstate after traveling through the guardrail. Ruiz-Estrada was not injured.

The westbound lanes were reduced to one-lane and closed at times to facilitate the recovery of the tractor and trailer, which lasted nearly five hours.
