The National Weather Service is looking for more cool temperatures in our region during the first week of September.
NOAA's 6- to 10-day extended outlook is calling for temperatures to be below normal for the period after Labor day from Sept. 3 to 7.
Most states east of the Rockies will be included in the cool spell, especially from the Upper Midwest to the Ohio River valley.
That translates to local highs in the mid 80s next week, then breaking below 80 by next Thursday. Paducah's average high temperature for the first week of September is 87.
The extended outlook also calls for above average precipitation for our region, but even that is still just a slight chance for showers.
