The driver was identified as 71-year-old Lannie Phipps of South Fulton, TN, and a passenger, 32-year-old Bobby J. Madding of Union City.

A vehicle search was conducted and methamphetamine, an amphetamine pill, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana were located. In addition, a digital scale commonly used in the distribution of illegal narcotics was found inside of the vehicle.

Phipps was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances, tampering with physical evidence, drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and traffic charges.
