Threat made by elementary student being investigated in Mayfield

A threat allegedly made by an elementary school student is under investigation in Mayfield.

Mayfield Independent Schools Superintendent Billy Edwards issued a statement on Thursday evening that said there is no active threat that they are aware of. He said they had been informed that Mayfield Police were looking into the reported threat made by a Mayfield Elementary School student.

Edwards stressed that safety is the top priority for the district. He also encouraged the reporting of suspicious activity to school officials or law enforcement.
