A man is now in custody in southern Illinois after he was chased on Saturday by three police agencies from Pulaski County into Johnson County.
Pulaski County deputies began the pursuit after a traffic infraction. The subject drove into Johnson County near Fern Clyffe State Park, where he crashed his vehicle on Gore Canyon Road and fled on foot.
It was orginally reported that he was picked up there by another vehicle, but that information turned out to be false.
The subject was eventually seen heading into the woods north of Tunnel Hill Road, 1/4 mile east of Goreville at approximately 2:20 pm.
Illinois State Troopers chased the subject to East Side Street in Goreville, where he attempted to get into the Johnson County sheriff's personal vehicle while the sheriff was armed and waiting for him. The subject then surrended to police.
