Portions of western Kentucky and southern Illinois are under a marginal ( level 1 of 5) risk of severe storms on Tuesday.
Two rounds of possible severe weather are in the forecast for Tuesday morning and afternoon.
The first round is expected from 5 a.m. until 10 a.m., and the second round of potential severe weather will resume from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Scattered small hail and isolated large hail is the main concern with the first round of strong storms Tuesday morning.
Storms Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening will pose a greater risk of severe weather. Scattered large hail and an isolated tornado is possible in southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and the Kentucky Pennyrile.
Otherwise, very heavy downpours could occur any time of day.
After a lull Wednesday, numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue on Thursday and Friday. Total rainfall for the week is still on track for between 1 to 2 inches, locally 3 inches in places.
