A Caldwell County grand jury indicted a West Virginis man for leaving his son at a Princeton convenience store earlier this year.

WPKY reported Princeton Police were called to the Princeton Food Mart on August 12th after a 17 year old boy reported his father, John Richard Ellis of West Union, left him there.

The teen claimed they were traveling home from Illinois when he asked to stop and take a rest break and indicated his father was driving recklessly.

After stopping, the teen claimed his father drove away and did not return.  He was located later in a Central City hotel room and was arrested and taken to the Muhlenberg County Jail.

Princeton Police stayed with the teen until a relative from Illiinois could pick him up.

John Richard Ellis faces a charge of abandonment of a minor.
