The launch of the West Kentucky Film Commission this week will underscore the rise of the film and television industry in our region.

Governor Andy Beshear will join regional leaders Wednesday in Madisonville to spotlight the growth of the industry in western Kentucky, and feature announcements on industry initiatives, location development, creative workforce recruiting and new opportunities for local businesses.

Officials said what began in Hopkins County has grown into a regional partnership supported by neighboring cities and counties, including Bowling Green, Oak Grove, Franklin, Central City, Henderson and Owensboro.

Co-Commissioners Jeremy Winton and Kristi Kilday will unveil new efforts focused on location development, production interest and education.

The launch will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts in Madisonville.
