A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to start day and night work zones along Interstate 24 in McCracken and Lyon counties on Thursday and Friday.
The work is part of a patching project to prepare sections of I-24 for a larger surfacing effort in June.
During the day Thursday, crews will begin milling westbound near mile point 15 in McCracken County. Crews will then move to near the weigh station in Lyon County.
Crews will return Thursday night to pave in the same sections.
On Friday, the work zone shifts to I-24 eastbound in Lyon County between the weigh station and Exit 40. Milling will take place during the day, followed by paving overnight.
The overall project is expected to be completed in September.
