St. Louis firefighters battled a blaze that began overnight and engulfed four abandoned buildings south of downtown.
No injuries were reported from the fire even as firefighters had to evacuate homeless individuals out of the buildings.
As of Friday morning, smoke from the fires could be seen from miles away. Overnight, flames were reported to be more than 200 feet high at times.
The St. Louis Fire Department reported that the 5-alarm blaze drew more than 200 firefighters from multiple agencies to the scene by 3 a.m.
The fire was reported to be contained by 10 a.m., but crews will stay on the scene to watch for flareups. The warehouses are said to contain a large amount of combustible materials and heavy timbers.
