Former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Sixth District U.S. Congressman Andy Barr both recently announced the formation of agriculture advisory groups as part of their campaign for Mitch McConnell's U.S. Senate seat.

Cameron said the statewide group of farm leaders will help shape his agricultural policy and focus on growing the economic value of agriculture, protecting family farms, strengthening farm income, and reducing federal overreach.

Western Kentucky is represented on the 15-person council by Jed Clark of Mayfield, along with Jonathan Reynolds and Michael Williford of Clinton. State Representative Ryan Bivens will serve as chair of the council.

Barr gathered with supporters in Hopkinsville on Monday to launch his agricultural advisory committee.

Barr said Kentucky’s signature industry is agriculture, and that its opportunities for energy, equipment, and environment are responsible for millions in the state.

The upcoming May 19 primary will determine the party candidates for the Nov. 3 election.
