On Sunday, the streets of Cape Girardeau buckled in the heat in two locations as the heat index rose above 102.
On Siemers Drive on the city's west side, a large section of concrete cracked and rose up about 18 inches, leaving one lane impassable.
A public works crew removed the concrete and replaced it with asphalt.
A smaller buckle also forced the closure of a lane on the 2200 block of Broadway.
