Police in Lawrenceburg made two arrests Tuesday evening in connection with an ongoing investigation involving vandalism of Flock cameras in Anderson, Franklin and Woodford counties.
In recent days, Lawrenceburg Police discovered that four of its Flock cameras had been destroyed or completely removed. Their detectives contacted neighboring agencies, including the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Versailles Police Department, and learned that those agencies had recently experienced similar incidents.
A few hours earlier on Tuesday, Lawrenceburg Police say a witness reported to Versailles Police that they observed a black truck pulling a trailer, stop along KY 33 in Woodford County. The witness reported seeing a woman leave the vehicle and shoot a Flock camera with a shotgun. The vehicle then headed toward Lexington.
Versailles Police relayed this information to Lawrenceburg Police detectives and officers. The same vehicle was later located in Lawrenceburg near Pumphouse Road. With assistance from Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies,the officers took the two suspects into custody without incident.
The following individuals were criminally charged:
Jim Thacker, 44, of Anderson County, was charged with one count of Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree; Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree; and Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in a Motor Vehicle.
Jovanna Grobe, 18, originally from Powell County and currently residing in Anderson County, was charged with Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree; Complicity to Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree; Discharge of a Firearm/Other Device Across a Public Road; and Failure to Notify the Department of Transportation of an Address Change.
Officers located two shotguns in the vehicle occupied by Grobe and Thacker that are believed to have been used in the destruction of the cameras, along with numerous boxes of ammunition.
During the investigation, it was determined that the two suspects were allegedly responsible for damaging and/or removing Flock cameras in Anderson, Woodford, and Franklin counties. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed in other counties as the case develops.
