Grand champion country ham draws $10 million bid at Kentucky State Fair

Kentucky's grand champion country ham sold for $10 million Thursday morning during the 62nd annual Kentucky Country Ham Breakfast the Kentucky State Fair.

Kelly and Joe Craft partnered with Central Bank and President Luther Deaton to purchase the ham.

Kelly Craft said their five million dollar donation will go to help Boys and Girls Clubs and the FFA in a central Kentucky in Barren County.

Luther Deaton and Central Bank partnered to pay the other half of the $10 million dollar purchase price, with Central Bank know for supporting the University of Kentucky and several charity organizations throughout the state.

This year's winning bid matched last year's amount, but fell short of the record of $11 million.

The winning 16.7-pound country ham produced by Tim Berry of Clifty Farm Country Meats in Scottsville, was auctioned before a sold-out crowd of more than 1,600 people at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
