Kentucky’s Lieutenant Governor, Jacqueline Coleman, has officially launched her campaign for Governor.
Joined by family, friends, and supporters, Coleman made her announcement at the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort before embarking on a statewide tour. In a statement, she said, “I spent the last two years meeting with Kentuckians, asking them what they are looking for in their next governor. It’s crystal clear: they want someone who will show up, listen, and focus on the issues that truly matter to their families.”
Coleman highlighted her work bringing federal money into the state for education, along with touting the administration’s economic development successes. She also keyed on her Kentucky heritage, time in the classroom, and her time as a coach. In a video on her campaign website, she talked about some of the jobs on her resume and said, “I've been a high school civics teacher, an assistant principal and a basketball coach. Which means I know when it's time to shoot my shot.”
She is the first to announce a run for the office, which will be on the ballot in 2027. Others rumored to be mulling a run include 1st District Congressman James Comer, Secretary of State Michael Adams, and Beshear Senior Advisor Rocky Adkins.
