Kroger stores Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois and fourteen other states have been asked to recall some pasta products due to growing concerns about a Listeria bacterial infection that could cause severe illness or death.

Affected products include the Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad, Reser's Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad Kit 10.31 lb, Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta Salad 13 lb, Reser's Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad Kit, Smoked Penne Salad, and Basil Pesto Bowtie Pasta GNG.

Kroger warns that these products may contain Listeria monocytogenes, which has been identified in a number of products across multiple grocery store chains, including seafood and meat products in addition to the pasta products Kroger recently identified.

Listeriosis, or Listeria infection, can cause a range of symptoms in infected individuals. For those experiencing less severe infections, symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

The recall also affects stores in parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
