Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams announced on Thursday that Ryker Asher, a student at Bush Elementary in Laurel County, is the winner of the 2026 “I Voted” Sticker Contest.
Ryker’s design featured a smiling sun, rolling Kentucky pasture and a blue outline of Kentucky, along with the words “Kentucky Proud.”
“Thanks to Ryker for helping us promote voting and reminding us that any Kentuckian can make a difference,” Adams said.
Ryker’s mother, Brandi, said her son was shocked by the win. “He did not believe me. He is absolutely shocked!! He is speechless. Thank you, this is just a great honor for him. I am so very proud.”
“Ryker’s achievement is something our entire school community can celebrate,” stated Bush Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Cupp. “We are incredibly proud of his creativity, hard work, and willingness to share his talents. It is exciting to see one of our students recognized at the state level.”
Melody Curry, Ryker’s Art Teacher, noted, “Ryker is a joy to have in art class. He is creative, kind and always ready to learn. I am so proud of his accomplishments.”
More than 3,500 ballots were cast at the Secretary of State’s booth during the Kentucky State Fair, which ran from August 20-30.
As a result of the win, Laurel County will receive “I Voted” stickers featuring Ryker’s design from the Secretary of State’s Office. Other county clerks may also request the stickers to hand out to voters who cast their ballots during the November general election.
