The Kentucky Department for Public Health has issued an advisory, after they identified potential measles exposures in Grant County during late December.

According to the KDPH, an unvaccinated, out-of-state traveler stayed at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Dry Ridge from Dec. 28 to 30 and, while staying in northern Kentucky, visited the Ark Encounter on Dec. 29.

Kentucky saw 13 confirmed measles cases in 2025. Six of them were in Fayette County, three in Woodford County, two more in Jefferson County and one each in both Franklin and Todd counties. Ten of them occurred in children between the ages of five and 17, while the other three involved people who were 18 or older.

One measles case in Kentucky occurred in February, five more in June and the other seven took place in July. Two of the cases were serious enough to require hospitalization.

An outbreak of measles in South Carolina took place in December with more than 250 cases. Arizona and Utah have logged 176 and 115 cases since August.

Texas declared the end of a measles outbreak last summer that involved 782 cases since January.

This was part of 1,944 cases that were reported nationwide last year.
