The Center for Disease Control defines an outbreak as three or more associated cases. There are currently 5 total cases in progress in Kentucky. Four have occurred in Woodford and Fayette counties. An additional, unrelated measles case was confirmed in Todd County last week.
There have been 7 total cases of measles in Kentucky in 2025. One earlier case was in Franklin County, and one was an international resident that was diagnosed in Kentucky.
Five of the cases have involved children 18 or under.
According to the CDC, as of June 24, a total of 1,227 confirmed measles cases were reported by 37 jurisdictions: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York City, New York State, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.
There have been 23 outbreaks reported in 2025, and 89% of confirmed cases are outbreak-associated.
