The Fort Campbell Army Base announced that another contingent of soldiers will deploy soon to assist with operations along the U.S./Mexico border.

Roughly 500 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division and other units will begin deploying in early October, according to the Fort Campbell release.

The 101st Airborne will establish a Joint Task Force headquarters and oversee units operating along the United States’ border with Mexico.

It's the third wave of Fort Campbell soldiers sent to the border this year.

In January, the Army base announced an unknown number of soldiers from the 101st Airborne were being sent south, while another 300 were deployed in March.

The soldiers will report to U.S. Northern Command, the Department of Homeland Security, and Customs and Border Protection.
