An overhead sign collapsed onto Interstate 64 in Illinois across from St. Louis, closing all four lanes of the road early Thursday morning.
The Illinois Department of Transportation said that a tractor-trailer failed to lower its dump bed and struck the sign, according to police.
All four westbound lanes of I-64 at I-255 were closed for several hours in St. Clair County near Caseyville. The interstate eventually reopened before the afternoon rush hour.
No injuries were reported.
