March came in like a lion with a winter weather advisory for St. Louis and Louisville on Sunday night and Monday morning.
The National Weather Service forecast two to four inches of wet snow for the St. Louis metro. The advisory continued westward through northern Missouri into Kansas and Nebraska.
The advisory left a gap through south central Illinois. Mt. Vernon was forecast to get just a brief bout of snow, turning to rain without accumulation of consequence.
The advisory resumed through Indiana to Ohio. Louisville's winter weather advisory called for up to an inch of a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
As the workweek begins, the eastern half of the country will stay rainy but warming to the 70s by midweek.
