After an opening night rainout, the Paducah Chiefs took to the road Saturday and held off the Madisonville Miners 7-6 at Elmer Kelley Field.
The Chiefs jumped out to an early 6-1 lead, then 7-3 into the bottom of the ninth. The Miners pushed across three runs in their last at bats, then had the tying and winning runs on second and third before the Chiefs finally locked it down.
The Chiefs are one of three undefeated teams in the OVL, along with the Hoptown Hoppers (2-0) and Full Count Rhythm (1-0).
The Chiefs are back at Brooks Stadium Sunday at 6 pm to host Fulton.
