The Marshall County Lady Marshals' comeback fell short as they lost 5-4 to Lawrence County on Saturday in the first round of the Kentucky high school state softball tournament in Lexington.
The Lady Marshals (28-9-1) trailed 5-2 going into the bottom of the seventh and managed to get two runs across to cut the lead to one, before the 15 Region champs got the final out of the game.
The Lady Marshals were led by Audrey Knisely who finished 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. They also got hits from Macy McLeod, Allicen Harris, Trinlee Anderson, Addley Poole and Elin Denfip. McLeod and Denfip each had an RBI as well.
Lawrence County (26-7) not only got the first round win over the Lady Marshals, but have advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.
