Mustangs shut out Bowling Green to take first game at baseball state tourney

In an early test of two Top Five-ranked teams, McCracken County won their first round game of the state baseball tournament 6-0 over Bowling Green.

Caden Kern pitched a complete game shutout against the Purples (34-6), who could only manage three hits.

With the win, the Mustangs (32-8) advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. They'll face the winner of the Sayre - Johnson Central matchup.

Semifinal games and the championship game will be held on June 12-13 at UK's Legends Field.
