Homecoming at Murray State will be anything but friendly with yet another nationally ranked, but very familiar opponent.

Southern Illinois University is No. 16 in national FCS polls, and is another Missouri Valley Football Conference team that hopes to make a deep run for the division's national championship.

The Salukis' (5-3, 2-2) only conference defeats so far have been to No. 1 NDSU and No. 10 North Dakota.

The Racers (0-8, 0-4) are still looking for their first win of the season, and their first Homecoming victory since 2022.

The rivalry goes back almost at far as the Racers' football beginnings a century ago; they first met in 1927 in Murray. The Racers are 8-3 at home against the Dogs, and 10-11-2 overall.

Along with football, the homecoming festivities will also include a postgame drone show. That's part of the reason kickoff will be at 4 p.m. at Roy Stewart Stadium.

The Homecoming parade will take place at 9:30 a.m., and Tent City will open at noon. Stadium gates open at 2:30.
