A week in Iowa was not friendly for the Murray State Racers, who dropped two games and snapped their long winning streak.

The Murray State Racers suffered an 81-76 defeat to the Northern Iowa Panthers at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls on Saturday.

Romon Doman scored a career-high 29 points the lead the Racers. The last true freshman from Murray State to score 29 points in a game was MSU Hall of Famer Cameron Payne, who did so at Belmont in 2014.

Fred King added his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Layne Taylor scored 13 points for MSU.

Trailing by 12 points with 4:45 left in the first half, the Racers put together a run to grab the lead at 38-37 behind Domon's 20 first half points.

The Racers led 38-37 at the halftime break.

JJ Traynor made a dunk at the 14:50 mark to give the Racers their largest lead of the day at 50-46. UNI tied it at the 12:38 mark and the Racers were never able to take the lead the rest of the day.

After their first two losses this season in the Missouri Valley Conference, the Racers still have a share of first place at 8-2. The Racers are 16-5.

The Racers get back to Murray to host the Illinois State Redbirds on Wednesday. They'll be trying to extend their 12-game home winning streak at the CFSB Center.
