In the latest blurring of the lines between sports, entertainment and social media, a baseball player from the Savannah Bananas has been revealed as a contestant on the TV show "Dancing With The Stars."
Jackson Olson, internet personality and second baseman for the Bananas, is joining season 35 in September.
The 28-year-old Olson has been with the Bananas since 2022. The Savannah Bananas are a barnstorming baseball team similar to the Harlem Globetrotters, and are currently on a 75-stadium tour through 45 states, selling out tickets to more than 3 million fans.
Just as significantly for purposes of the reality show, Olson has more than 2 million followers on TikTok and 1 million on Instagram.
In a tease of the upcoming lineup announcement, Olson was revealed along with reality television stars Maura Higgins and Ciara Miller.
Higgins starred in “The Traitors,” “Love Island” and “Love Island: Aftersun.”
Miller is a nurse and has been a cast member on “Summer House” since 2021.
The full “Dancing with the Stars” cast will be announced on Sept. 2.
