It's time to prepare for this year's Western Kentucky Polar Plunge, happening March 7 at Kentucky Dam Village State Park. It's one of the largest fundraisers of the year for local Special Olympics athletes.

Again this year, there are many ways for you to take part. You can run in the annual Polar 5k, take the traditional Plunge from the docks into Kenucky lake, or run in from the shore. If you’re really adventurous you can take part in the Triple Crown Challenge and do all three.

If you can’t plunge, but still want to support Special Olympics, you can register for the Personal Plunge. You get a Plunge T-shirt and you're still eligible for all the fundraising awards.

Prizes are awarded for the top individual fundraiser and for the top fundraising teams in corporate/civic, school and law enforcement divisions. There are also prizes for the best individual and group costumes.

Get started by raising a minimum of $100, or $65 for Polar Bears under 18.

Enter individually, or put together a team from your work, school, church or civic group.

For more on how you can get involved in the Western Kentucky Polar Plunge or for sponsorship information, contact Laura Miller at 270-293-9054 or lmiller@soky.org .
