The student-run spirit store at Marshall County High School opened its doors for the year on Friday.
The store, called Marshall Merch, is located in the Commons Area at Marshall County High School and features t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, stickers, drinkware, and more featuring the logos and colors of the Marshals. Designs and products are developed by the students and sold on campus and at select athletic events. Even some custom items are available.
“This store gives us hands-on experience in things like graphic design, marketing, customer service, inventory control, and managing real-world business scenarios: from creating designs that people actually want to wear to handling sales goals and keeping our finances on track.” said Marshall Merch CEO Faith Eustler. She said one of the goals for the school year is to double sales to $20,000.
Braelyn Spalding is this year’s President of Marshall Merch and said that Marshall Merch would be doing some community pop-ups, as well.
Marshall Merch is a concept born out of the business pathway of classes at Marshall County. The 21 students in Katie Feagin’s class all had to apply and interview for jobs within the Marshall Merch framework, ranging from President, CEO, Chief Financial Officer, Public Relations Manager, to graphic design, inventory control, sales, and store management.
CFSB is a supporter of the program, which replaced the CFSB-sponsored Star Bank. Employees from CFSB conducted the job interviews, giving students a real-world look at what it is like in the job market.
