“Miss Carleigh” is a Carlisle native and is thrilled to be back at her own school to begin her first full year of teaching. “It’s always been home. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.” When asked if she was teaching at
the grade level she originally planned “yes…I have the dream grade!”
Teaching often runs in the family and we were excited that Miss Carleigh’s dad Brian, a high school teacher, could join us. He was not surprised she won the award “she’s done a really good job since she started. She’s always wanted to be a teacher; since she was about 4 or 5 years old.”
At the time this article was published, Miss Carleigh’s class was still undecided on how THEY wanted to spend her prize money. It definitely wasn’t going toward more books or another Betta (fish) for the tank. They had too many of both!
West Kentucky Star Teacher of the Month, sponsored by Scott Walker Construction, is awarded each month of the school year. As the September winner, Miss Carleigh will join the future awardees this school year for the West Kentucky Star Teacher of the Year 2025 – 2026. Each teacher’s school receives a yard sign to show that a “Teacher of the Month Works Here.” It’s a great addition to the school entrances and a way schools can show off their winning teacher! Also, thanks to our sponsor, all monthly winners receive $75!
Visit the WestKentuckyStar.com CONTESTS tab each month to participate.
