A strong cold front will approach this afternoon and evening. Ahead of the front, south winds will gust to around 35 mph with a few gusts possibly reaching 40 mph at times. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, such as holiday yard decorations this afternoon and evening.
A line of showers and a few thunderstorms will also pass through with the cold front, which may produce brief higher wind gusts. There is still a marginal risk of severe weather with isolated damaging wind gusts the main threat.
Behind the front, winds will quickly shift to the west, then northwest with gusts to 35 mph possible through or just
after midnight.
Temperatures will also drop very quickly behind the cold front this evening and overnight. After highs around 70 today, Monday's high will struggle to reach the freezing mark. Wind chills may drop to the single digits Monday morning and again Tuesday morning.
