A Princeton man charged in connection with a fatal shooting in October appeared for arraignment Tuesday.
WPKY reported during his appearance in Caldwell Circuit Court, the attorney for Hector Pena waived formal proceedings and entered a not guilty plea. A pretrial conference was scheduled for March 3rd.
Pena is charged with murder in connection with the death of 34-year-old Jerrod Cooper on the morning of October 23rd on Beverly Lane and is also charged with attempted murder Pena remains jailed in the Caldwell County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Princeton Police said Pena and another man were walking along Beverly Lane when Cooper pulled up in a vehicle with a passenger when he stopped, left his vehicle and took a few steps toward Pena. It was stated that Pena began firing at Cooper.
Cooper died of his wounds later that day while Pena, who had left the scene prior to police arriving, turned himself in later that day.
